INDUSTRY-LEADING DEMOLITION CONTRACTORS FOR RICHMOND, VIRGINIA & NATIONWIDE

Total Wrecking ESTIMATING & SITE VISITS

ESTIMATING & SITE VISITS

Our most experienced and senior industrial demolition estimators participate in a site walkthrough and detailed inspection to determine the project’s scope. Facility size, environmental requirements, equipment, necessary subcontractors, and other factors are carefully evaluated.

Combining on-site assessments with the power plant’s historical documentation allows us to develop the most informed estimate possible. During this process, our team also creates a preliminary work plan outlining project phases, rough completion dates, equipment needs, and other high-level details.

PROJECT PLANNING & SCHEDULING

Once our nationwide demolition bid is accepted, we develop a comprehensive work plan detailing what, when, where, how, and why each project task will be completed.

Because every task depends on the progress of others, we establish a critical path method schedule that defines the shortest start-to-finish project timeline. From there, detailed work plans are created for each project milestone.

MOBILIZATION & SITE PREPARATION

After the work plan and critical path schedule are approved, crews and equipment are mobilized immediately. This includes coordinating heavy equipment transportation and housing for crews working on-site.

We then begin site preparation, including perimeter fencing, erosion and sediment controls, permits, trailers, construction entrances, restrooms, and any other project requirements.

DECOMMISSIONING

Power plant decommissioning can be completed by industrial demolition contractors or the facility owner. We believe the process is best managed alongside the facility’s management and maintenance teams because of their invaluable historical knowledge of the plant.

Working together creates a more streamlined process, reduces the risk of undiscovered hazards such as ash, coal, or other waste, and ensures the project has the historical information needed for a safe and efficient demolition.

Total Wrecking REMEDIATION & WASTE REMOVAL

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION & WASTE REMOVAL

Environmental remediation, universal waste removal, chemical removal, and hazardous material abatement are typically completed before demolition, although some activities may occur concurrently.

Our services include closing coal fields, on-site landfills, and ash ponds, relocating waste to approved landfills, and removing lines, piping, tanks, universal waste, asbestos, PCBs, and other hazardous materials using qualified specialists when required.

ASSET RECOVERY

Asset recovery can take place before or during demolition and focuses on identifying valuable equipment that can be reused or recycled.

Common recoverable assets include valves, generators, control panels, vessels, vibration monitoring equipment, tanks, and pumps. Identifying recyclable assets instead of scrapping them can often triple their value.

    DEMOLITION & RECYCLING

Demolition and waste management go hand in hand. A building’s construction and waste streams determine the safest and most effective demolition approach.

Throughout the project, our industrial demolition contractors prioritize recycling and recovering reusable materials such as brick and concrete. Minimizing waste benefits the environment, surrounding communities, and our clients’ bottom line while supporting long-term site safety.

    CLOSEOUT

Project closeout begins long before demolition is complete. Throughout the project, we maintain detailed documentation and monitor progress to ensure a smooth turnover.

Before completion, our team performs a final site walkthrough, confirms project requirements have been met, and provides all required documentation.

At Total Wrecking & Environmental, we’re committed to delivering every project safely, efficiently, and with the highest level of professionalism.
